Lightning on Tablet (Default for New Orgs)

The full-width Lightning on tablet experience is performance-tuned for tablet users. It supports Lightning apps, navigation, record pages, rotation between portrait and landscape modes, and design time previews in Lightning App Builder. The new tablet experience runs on all currently supported iPad models and many Android tablet models.

Lightning on Tablet: Single-Column

The single-column Lightning on tablet experience displays record pages the same way your users view them on a phone, with space on either side of the page. As of Spring ‘22, all orgs using this experience are defaulted to the full-width Lightning on tablet experience.

Legacy Salesforce1

The legacy tablet experience is full-screen but it was built prior to the Lightning design system and it doesn’t support Lightning apps, Lightning navigation, or custom record pages. Legacy Salesforce1 is scheduled for retirement in all Salesforce orgs as of Spring ‘23.

Select a Tablet Layout

To select a tablet layout, from Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Quickstart, and then select New Salesforce Mobile App Quickstart. Under Tablet App Experience, make a selection. Save your changes.

Desktops and Laptops

Salesforce supports these following browsers. Make sure that your browsers are up to date. Other browsers or older versions of supported browsers aren’t guaranteed to support all features.

Tablets

Use Apple Safari on iPadOS (iOS 13.x) or later. Portrait orientation and orientation switching aren’t supported on Lightning Experience on iPad Safari. Use landscape orientation and maximize your Safari browser to full width. To avoid orientation switching, turn on the iPad rotation lock.
