Introduction

FormAssembly for AppExchange is an app that allows you to access your FormAssembly account from within Salesforce, without requiring a separate login (this is also called Single Sign-On or SSO).

Getting Started

Follow the step by step guide below to begin using FormAssembly within Salesforce. Please note that FormAssembly for AppExchange can only be used between a single FormAssembly account and a single Salesforce account, and that the usernames for both must match.

Using Single Sign-On Between Production and Sandbox

As noted above, SSO can only be used between a single Salesforce account and a single FormAssembly account, because the usernames must match.

Single Sign-On and SAML

SAML 2.0 is supported for Single Sign-On. You can follow the steps in this documentation when setting up SAML with Salesforce as the identity provider.

Salesforce Winter '21 Release Notes

With the Winter '21 release to Salesforce, the following Critical Updates will be activated: "Restrict Access to @AuraEnabled Apex Methods for Guest and Portal Users Based on User Profile" and "Restrict Access to @AuraEnabled Apex Methods for Authenticated Users Based on User Profile".

Introduction

There may be times where you want to create linked, or associated records within Salesforce. A common example of this is to have a contact record associated with an account record.

Linking Records in the Salesforce Connector

When setting up linked records in your connector, it is important to always put the parent objects first. For example, if you wanted to link a contact to an account, the account is the parent object, so it would need to be setup first in your connector.

Introduction

There are some cases where you might need to reauthenticate or change the authenticated account for your Salesforce connector. You might be switching from Sandbox to Production accounts, you might be adding a new user to your organization, or you might be updating credentials that are no longer in use.

Determine Your Authentication Type

If you have added a new Salesforce connector to a form after September of 2016, you are likely using the OAuth authentication method. This means that you never need to update your password or security token, and your connector will always be connected to your Salesforce account.

Reauthenticate Using OAuth

If you are using the current OAuth authentication method, then you can simply click on the username/authentication you would like to use under the "connect using" section to reauthenticate to that Salesforce user. You can also click on a different user before clicking on the one you'd like to utilize.

Reauthenticate using Username, Password, and Security Token

If you are using the older method of authenticating with a username, password, and security token, then you will need to update all three of these pieces of information in order to reauthenticate the connector.

How To: Upload New Salesforce Files with FormAssembly

In this blog post, we’re going to look at how FormAssembly interacts with the new ‘Files’ introduced in Lightning. Previously, the ‘Attachments’ object worked within FormAssembly and Salesforce, but as we move forward fully into Lightning, we needed an update on working with the new ‘Files’ interface.

Form Setup

The form you use with file uploads can be as simple or as complex as you’d like. For our example, we’ll keep it pretty simple so that we can focus on the core value – files.

Form Connector Setup

For the connector, we’ll look up the ‘Account’ by name and then upload the ‘File’ to that ‘Account.’

View Salesforce Records

Now we’re ready to test and view our results in Salesforce. Let’s first run some data through the form:
