  1. Navigate to In Lightning: Pardot Settings > Import > Prospects In Classic: Admin > Import > Prospects

Step 1: Create the Salesforce campaign

Create the Salesforce campaign you want to associate with your list email. Don’t forget to stick to consistent naming conventions so you can easily locate the campaign later! Tip: make sure you select the checkbox next to Active. You won’t be able to populate the Salesforce campaign for the Pardot list email without it.

Step 2: Create Member Status Values

Scroll down to and select Advanced Setup, then select Edit. Once there, you should be able to create new Member Status Values. Create and save the following statuses: Opened, Clicked and Unsubscribed. You will need these later for your list email.

Step 3: Build your list

Build your list email in Pardot. (If you don’t know how, click here for the Salesforce help documentation)

Step 4: Integrate

Remember those statuses you setup in your Salesforce campaign in step two? This is where they tie into Pardot.

Just for fun, here is a sample use case of where this integration would come in handy. In this example, we’re contacting customers about an upcoming event and we have been asked to send a follow-up list email to folks who received the promotion email but did not engage by clicking any links..

A Salesforce campaign is an outbound marketing project that you plan, manage, and track within Salesforce. It can be a direct mail program, seminar, print advertisement, email, or other type of marketing initiative. You can organize campaigns into hierarchies for easy analysis of related marketing tactics.

Creating a Salesforce Campaign

1. Sign into your Salesforce account. 2. Navigate to Campaigns tab. 3. Select New. 4. Fill out the relevant campaign information. Fields with a red line next to the box are required. 5. Mark the Active checkbox so that Pardot and others at your organization can see the campaign. 6. Click Save.

Adding Prospects to a Salesforce Campaign with Pardot

You can use Pardot’s rules and actions to add prospects to Salesforce campaigns. Automation rules, segmentation rules, completion actions and Engagement Studio Program actions can add prospects to Salesforce campaigns with statuses that you designate.

How to Set Up Campaign Influence in Salesforce

1. Sign into Salesforce. 2. Navigate to Setup > Customize > Campaigns > Campaign Influence 3. Click Enabled and specify a time frame (this is the maximum number of days between the campaign first associated date and opportunity created date.) 4. Designate any association rules like: Campaign Member Status > equals > Responded. 5. Save.

On the topic of case sensitivity, Pardot fields aren’t, so, make sure your Salesforce API fields are unique. Creating a new field in Pardot does not automatically sync with Salesforce. The systems need to be used and synced bi-directionally to ensure all fields are correctly populated.
