If you are using a formula or text value for the mapping of the File Name field, then you will also need to include the filetype extention (e.g. .doc, .pdf, .jpg, etc.). This will happen automatically if you map the upload field itself to the File Name field, but not if you set the File Name field to “a formula or text."

The Salesforce Connector allows you to create or update any Salesforce object with your web forms. Here's how to connect your form to Salesforce.

Salesforce Configuration Process

There are two ways to begin your integration with FormAssembly and Salesforce.

Salesforce Authentication

Begin by selecting Connect to Salesforce unless you are using a sandbox account or a custom domain, in which case you should select the appropriate option.

Connecting Using a Custom Domain

Once you have clicked that box, you'll need to enter the custom domain that you are using and click Connect.

Salesforce API Version

When you initially create your connector and authenticate your Salesforce instance, that connector will be set up based on your current version of the Salesforce API. We recommend using Salesforce's current API version if possible.

Can you send data through Salesforce?

Our Salesforce connector can send data to any Salesforce object or field, standard or custom, which are accessible through the Salesforce API. You can send the data on submission of the form, or immediately after. Check out this help document to learn how to set up the Salesforce connector.

Can you require form respondents to log into Salesforce?

If you have an Enterprise or Compliance Cloud plan, you can require that your form respondents log into your Salesforce Community to access the form. Plus, this allows you to prefill data from their user records!

Update the most recent record, when dealing with duplicates

This was one of our most requested features! It’s especially important when dealing with duplicate records in Salesforce. Before, if the connector ran into duplicate records, you could only create a new record (and therefore keep adding dupes). Now, you can simply pick the most recent record found and update that one.

Update multiple records using repeatable sections

FormAssembly has always been able to create multiple records in Salesforce using repeated sections, but now you can also update ’em.

Implement smarter handling of update-or-create scenarios

You can set a connector to update a Salesforce record, or create a record if there isn’t an existing record to update.

Access the latest objects and fields in Salesforce

Until now, the most recent Salesforce changes weren’t available in FormAssembly because we were using an older version of the API.
