Having a reputation management strategy is increasingly important in today's online retail world where customers rely on reviews. Here's how you can boost your customer experience and increase customer satisfaction

This article is contributed by Reputation Studio, a Salesforce partner.

Use negative reviews to your advantage

No company wants to be on the receiving end of a bad review, but it happens. Don’t fear negative feedback. Instead, use it to your advantage to better understand how you can serve your customers better.

Elevate the customer service experience

Managing online reviews effectively is a three-step process that should encompass aggregation, routing, and monitoring. Let’s examine each.

Reputation is entirely optional

The three most important activities on Salesforce Stack Exchange are Asking, Answering and Editing - none of which require any reputation at all!

So what is reputation?

Reputation is a rough measurement of how much the community trusts you; it is earned by convincing your peers that you know what you’re talking about.

How do I earn reputation?

The primary way to gain reputation is by posting good questions and useful answers. Votes on these posts cause you to gain (or sometimes lose) reputation. Please note that votes for posts marked “community wiki” do not generate any reputation.

But I want to vote and comment and delete things!

Those are all secondary activities on Salesforce Stack Exchange; get used to answering and editing and asking questions first, so that you have a better feel for the local culture and get to see your own work become a part of the site.

Who Is It?

Are you more likely to answer your buzzing phone when you see a friend calling or a blocked number? Probably your friend, right? (But we won’t tell if you ignore those calls sometimes, too.) The point is, based on what you know or don’t know about the number, you can make an informed decision on whether to answer or not.

Warm Up Your IP Address

The best way to develop your email marketing reputation is to send only relevant messages to those who opt to receive them and, of course, follow all sending regulations.

Start Slow

Ramping up your new IP address is a marathon, not a sprint. Which means slow and consistent sending will pay off. How do you send responsibly?

Michele Hansley is a technical marketer for outdoor gear and apparel brand Northern Trail Outfitters (NTO), and her supervisor Isabelle tasked her with warming up a new IP address for NTO’s new product line.

Growing Forward

As you expand your marketing efforts and send more messages, you can outgrow the capabilities of a single IP address. In fact, Marketing Cloud recommends maintaining a dedicated IP address for marketing sends and a separate dedicated IP address for transactional sends.
