Salesforce does NOT allow deleting users on a permanent basis. However, in order to restrict users’ access, owners can deactivate or remove users’ license. One of the reasons of why you can’t delete users from Salesforce is, because users may own RECORDS, deleting them permanently becomes technically impossible.

Deactivate Your Site
  1. From Setup, enter Digital Experiences in the Quick Find box, then select All Sites.
  2. Click Workspaces next to the site you want to deactivate.
  3. Click Administration | Settings.
  4. Click Deactivate.

In order for the National Aquarium to reopen during the COVID-19 pandemic, we needed guests to make advance reservations so that we could limit the number of guests in the building to allow for social distancing.

Background

In order to enter the National Aquarium, people need to purchase tickets. General Admission ticket buyers have always had a date and time for entry, but many other ticket programs have historically allowed guests to arrive at any time and gain immediate entry.

How I solved it

I created a digital experience (formerly a Salesforce Community) which allows public access (that is, no usernames or logins) where screen flows control all of the data manipulation.

Business results

The impact for the organization has been tremendous. We’ve been able to comply with local directives to keep in-building attendance levels within social distancing guidelines, while making it simple for our guests to make a reservation.
