Create lead fields

Create a text field on the account called “domain”. This is the field we will use to match the account domain to the lead domain. You will need to populate the account with the domain. This tutorial will not cover how to populate the domain on the account level.

Create the flow

Navigate to Setup > Process Automation > Flows and select new flow. Select AutoLaunched Flow from the wizard.

Add a Get Records element to the flow

Next, add another get records element to the flow to check to see if there is a company/account match.

Add an update records element to the flow

Lastly, add another update records element to the flow to update the account lookup on the lead if there is a company name -> account name match.

Activate the flow

Save and activate the flow. Note: the flow will need to be activated in order to create the process builder.

The Marketing team insisted that there were 5,000 Contacts, but I could only find around 4,500. After some prodding and searching, I found them – a massive 500 Contacts where the Account field was blank.

Make sure you get the IDs right and load data into the appropriate converted field. 4 For contacts, the field ISCONVERTED should be set to ‘True’. 5 Run the data loader from the new platform and insert, upsert, or update accounts as required.

Why does Salesforce keep leads separate?

Salesforce keeps converted leads separate from prospective accounts in order to keep everything organized. A prospective lead is created in many ways such as direct customer meeting, a referral through an existing client or from website visitor traffic.

Can you view converted leads?

You won’t be able to view the information for converted leads. You can check information about the converted date, converted contact, account and opportunity based on which one of these was mapped. Converted leads cannot be updated to contact because they are already treated as existing accounts.

Do you need a converted account field?

The field for converted account is necessary if you want to update or upsert leads as converted account. The converted contact and converted opportunity fields are not mandatory. The converted contact and opportunity fields do not have to belong to the converted account field.
