ACT! simply does not allow business users to adopt to changing market environments the way Salesforce users inevitably can. Truthfully, the two almost cannot be fairly compared. For most businesses looking to use CRM software to transform their business, Salesforce would be a much better investment than ACT! by Sage.

Act! has 670 reviews and a rating of 3.68 / 5 stars vs Salesforce Sales Cloud which has 17083 reviews and a rating of 4.38 / 5 stars. CRM Reliability

I’m not saying that Salesforce isn’t a great product, but there is a history of lawsuits where service is concerned. There are some major issues with their applications, however, including timeout errors, fields and objects that won’t load, and service disconnection.

The service offerings from Salesforce.com are rather expensive and offer little in the way of options for small business owners. CRM implementations will fail without adequate support and training.

Likelihood to Recommend

marketing tool. It is compiled of a lot of exceptional services with the best

Cons

Social Integration: The tool has a basic feed for LinkedIn information to feed into the system. The infusion of more Social Selling "signals" and "feeds" would be very helpful to instill more social selling into the framework.

Likelihood to Renew

There are a lot of good SaaS options on the market but SwiftPage ACT still has a place in the mix today. It depends on your needs, goals, processes, and people

Usability

ACT follows the basic rules you would expect for this type of software, but actually doing anything sophisticated with it is near impossible without assistance or training. Unless you use it regularly it is difficult to use. I wouldn't recommend it unless you have internal IT support and it will be used regularly.

Support Rating

Following a few interactions with support staff over the phone where we failed to correct the issues we were calling about, we ended up going back to the consultant who we purchased the software through and continued to use her for support rather than call Swiftpage ACT! directly.

Implementation Rating

Delay your upgrades! ACT appears to ship out new software with virtually no checking and no concern about bad installs do to their customers.

Alternatives Considered

ACT! CRM is more cost effective than like a Salesforce, but that is for a reason, it lacks a lot of the functionality that a Salesforce has. Pipedrive is actually another cost effective platform I've been evaluating as a potential ACT! CRM replacement. I like it's modern day look and feel versus ACT!.

Why the cloud is at the center of the conversation

One key defining element of Salesforce is that is completely cloud-based, and unavailable in an on-premise version. ACT is an old-school CRM, it is available in on-premise and a newly designed cloud version (although this is not web-based). Fundamentally, this is one the big philosophical differences between the two.

Mobility, Access to Data, and Usability

Cloud software enables users to access data from any location and respond to market changes significantly fast. It can strongly benefit remote users, like external sales teams, who make or break a sale by their ability to check inventory levels, schedule shipping, or provide a service from an off premise location, but must have mobile access.

User Experience and Software Design

Not much has changed for ACT! by Sage, since its inception. Its’ interface resembles many of it's earlier versions. ACT! was once a CRM marketplace leader, and it greatly relies on that reputation and fundamental design that made it popular.

Costs and other considerations

It's very hard to compare apples to apples in the area of costs when comparing ACT! and Salesforce. If you look at cloud pricing for both, you will find that ACT! generally costs much less; however if you are even remotely considering a cloud option, Salesforce provides a much more comprehensive and dynamic experience. It's not even close.
